EM with little free time
This is my first real attempt at working on side projects outside of work - having twins during Covid, and now taking on the role of Engineering Manager at work - does not leave a lot of time. Not really sure how most people do it - but with the continuing evolution of AI assisted development, I can now bring ideas to life quickly (where normally even a simple site would take weeks of small updates here and there).
Finding more free time as the kids find some independence
Now that they are almost 4, I can actually sit at my desk for small periods of time where I will not be interrupted. But working 40 hrs a week plus activities with them and finding downtime, doing more desk-work is not high on the list. But I am starting to find the drive to do more.
Too many things I want to accomplish
From building out a proper home network, to home labbing, to a personal website - and more (maybe start part-time small client consulting, mobile apps that make day to day life easier at home) - plus you know, time for other hobbies (video games, close up card tricks, exercising?!). So I started small - small website rebuild, and personal portfolio - while ordering equipment for a new home network.
What's Next?
Continue building out personal site, and ideate some projects. Build a homelab - but also keep time to spend with family, and that downtime that people are always talking about...
